Florida experienced significant population growth between 2023 and 2024, adding 467,347 residents and bringing its total population to an estimated 23,372,215, according to the latest Census Bureau data.
This 2% growth rate ranked as the second highest in the country, surpassed only by the District of Columbia. The increase was largely fueled by international migration, which contributed over 411,000 new residents. Additionally, domestic migration accounted for 411,004 new arrivals to the broader Southern region.
Despite this robust growth, Florida saw a “natural decrease” of 7,321 people, as deaths exceeded births—a demographic pattern expected to persist in the coming years. Nevertheless, Florida remains the nation’s third most populous state, following California and Texas, continuing to draw a steady stream of newcomers both domestically and internationally.
